Founding Memembers of Tonga Women in ICT

How it all started

TWICT began in 2018 with just seven passionate women in the ICT field, brought together by a simple cup of coffee and a shared dream to learn, serve, and uplift others. After Seluvaia Kauvaka attended PACNOG in the Solomon Islands and discovered WITSI (Women in ICT Solomon Islands), she returned home inspired and called on every ICT sister she knew to meet over coffee. That very first gathering sparked what was then called COCONECT—Coconuts Connecting through ICT. Around that table, ideas flowed freely and big dreams were born—dreams of empowering women and girls in Tonga through technology. As the years went by and the vision grew, the group evolved into Tonga Women in ICT (TWICT) to reflect a more professional identity. By 2021, TWICT officially registered as an NGO and began receiving grants to support the very dreams that started over coffee. And just like that, a movement was born—fueled by passion, sisterhood, and a belief in a better digital future for Tonga.
